Dating apps have become an integral part of the social landscape, and their performance is a keen interest to many. As we delve into the first quarter of 2024, let's examine the trends for the top dating apps in Australia, with insights from Sensor Tower.
The veteran dating app Tinder showed fluctuating revenues starting at nearly $892K in the first week of January and dipping to around $680K in the third week of February, before rising again to approximately $806K by the end of March. Downloads followed a similar variable pattern, kicking off at 13K and ending the quarter close to 11K. Weekly active users (WAUs) saw a decrease from 1.07M to just over 1M by the quarter's end.
Bumble experienced a more stable revenue trend, hovering around the $295K mark in early January, with minor fluctuations leading to about $271K by late March. Downloads began at nearly 13K and tapered to around 10K, while WAUs started at 411K and slightly decreased to 392K.
Hinge saw its revenue begin at approximately $236K and, despite some ups and downs, ended the quarter near $234K. Downloads opened at 13.8K, with a slight uptick to around 13K by March's end. WAUs for Hinge showed growth from 338K to 351K over the quarter.
Grindr started the quarter with revenue at about $124K and experienced minor fluctuations, concluding at $122K. Downloads ranged from 2.7K in the first week of January, dipping to 2.1K in the third week of March, and then rebounding to 2.4K. WAUs saw an overall increase from 41.6K to 42.7K.
Once, while smaller in user base, showed a revenue trend starting at around $67K and declining to approximately $32K. Downloads decreased from 5.1K to 2.5K, and WAUs also saw a downward trend from 3.5K to just under 2K.
