Europe's Top 5 Fitness and Weight Loss Apps Performances in Q1 2024

The fitness and weight loss category has been a competitive field in the app market, and the first quarter of 2024 was no exception. Sensor Tower data shows how the top five apps in this category have fared across Europe on the unified iOS and Android platforms.

YAZIO Calorie Counter & Diet started the quarter with a strong revenue of roughly $1.2M, which gradually decreased to about $558K by the end of March. Downloads followed a similar descending trend from approximately 302K in the first week of January to around 138K towards the quarter's end. Weekly active users peaked at over 3.3M early in the quarter, before settling close to 3.1M.

Strava: Run, Bike, Hike also experienced a downward trend in revenue, from nearly $940K at the beginning of January to about $1M by the end of March, showing a slight recovery towards the quarter's close. The app's downloads saw a low of 119K in mid-January, but ended the quarter slightly higher at 162K. Its weekly active users fluctuated, ultimately growing from 4.1M to 4.2M.

MyFitnessPal: Calorie Counter showed a diverse trend with its revenue initially decreasing to $335K mid-January, then reaching a high of $551K in early February, and finally normalizing to $406K by the end of March. Downloads dipped from 124K to under 79K, while active users declined from 3.4M to just under 3M.

Fitbit: Health & Fitness, managed by Google, saw its revenue decrease from $450K at the start of January to around $405K by the quarter's end, with a noticeable dip and recovery in between. Downloads remained fairly stable, ranging from 66K to 36K. Active users showed a slight decline, from 2.2M to 2.1M.

Zwift: Ride and Run had the most stable revenue, hovering around $280K to $290K for most of the quarter, with a spike to $333K in late February. Downloads and active users both saw a downward trend, with downloads dropping from 15K to under 5K and active users falling from 67K to just under 49K.
