In the first quarter of 2024, the US food delivery services market has shown varied performance across the top applications, according to data from Sensor Tower. Here's a look at how the top five contenders fared in terms of downloads and active users.
DoorDash - Food Delivery started the quarter with approximately 486K downloads, which tapered to about 375K by the end of March. Weekly active users began at around 19M and saw fluctuations, ending slightly higher at around 20M.
Uber Eats: Food Delivery observed its downloads hovering between 220K to 251K throughout the quarter. The active user base for Uber Eats showed a similar pattern, starting at approximately 13M and closing the quarter with a slight increase to nearly 14M.
For DoorDash - Dasher, downloads remained fairly consistent, with a peak of 225K in mid-February and ending the quarter at about 196K. The active users for the app began at 2.6M and experienced a steady trend, finishing slightly higher at around 2.7M.
Instacart-Get Grocery Delivery saw its downloads start at 174K in January, with a peak at over 201K in mid-January, and a subsequent drop to 140K by the end of March. Active users showed growth from roughly 2M to over 2.1M in the same period.
Lastly, Too Good To Go: End Food Waste experienced its highest number of downloads in late January at 135K, with a decline to 73K by the quarter's end. The weekly active users for the app started around 265K, peaked at 329K in early March, and then decreased to 305K.
