The first quarter of 2024 saw significant activity in the music and audio app category in Egypt. Here is an overview of the performance of the top five apps on a unified platform, based on data from Sensor Tower.
Spotify: Music and Podcasts had a noteworthy quarter. Weekly revenue peaked at about $2.4K in the final week of March, showing a steady increase from $1K at the start of January. Weekly downloads, however, showed a declining trend, starting from 529K in early January and dropping to 210K by the end of March. The app maintained a strong user base, with weekly active users hovering around 2.5M for most of the quarter, despite a slight dip to 2.2M towards the end.
Lark Player:Music Player & MP3 showed consistent download numbers throughout Q1 2024, with peaks exceeding 100K in early February. Weekly revenue remained minimal, never surpassing $5. The app's active user count remained stable, averaging around 2.4M throughout the quarter.
StarMaker: Sing Karaoke Songs exhibited varied performance. Weekly revenue was relatively stable, averaging around $500, with a peak of $711 in mid-March. Downloads fluctuated, peaking at 115K in mid-January and then tapering off to about 55K by the end of March. Weekly active users stayed around 210K, indicating a consistent user engagement.
Twist Music: Music & Radio experienced a surge in downloads in early February, reaching a peak of 156K, before declining to 35K by the end of March. Active users followed a similar trend, peaking at 243K in mid-February and then decreasing to 140K by the end of the quarter.
Anghami: Play music & Podcasts saw a strong start with weekly revenue peaking at $35.3K in late January. Downloads were highest in the first week of January at 98K, gradually dropping to around 40K by the end of March. Active users ranged between 1.3M and 1M throughout the quarter, showing solid user retention.
