In the first quarter of 2024, the top 5 music and audio applications in Nigeria showcased notable performance trends across downloads, revenue, and active users. Here’s a closer look at the metrics for each app, based on data from Sensor Tower.
Audiomack: Music Downloader from Audiomack Music Apps saw a varied trend in weekly revenue, peaking at around $824 in the second week of January before dipping to $376 in mid-February and rising again to $758 by the end of March. Weekly downloads started strong with over 162K and saw a dip mid-January, but recovered to reach 167K in the week of March 18. Active users fluctuated slightly but maintained a high average, ending the quarter at approximately 1.8M.
Spotify: Music and Podcasts, published by Spotify AB, experienced a steady increase in weekly revenue, starting at $479 and climbing to $788 by the end of March. Downloads fluctuated, with a notable peak of 73.6K in mid-February, and active users consistently hovered around the 1M mark, peaking at 1.01M in the week of March 18.
Boomplay: Music & Live Stream by Transsnet Music Limited had its highest revenue in mid-January at $3.8K, but saw a decline to $327 in early February before rising again to $1K at the end of March. Downloads were relatively stable, with a peak of 53.6K in mid-March. Active users started at 5.5M, dipped slightly in February, and remained around 5M towards the end of the quarter.
Shazam: Find Music & Concerts by Apple Inc. had a consistent download trend, starting at 40.5K and ending at 57.4K by the last week of March. Active users experienced minor fluctuations, starting at 623K and closing the quarter at approximately 615K.
Music Player & MP3 - DDMusic from Hitchhike Tech showed a significant increase in downloads, starting at 29.8K in the first week of January and peaking at 37.1K in mid-March. Active users also saw growth, starting at 28.8K and reaching 46.6K by the end of March.
