Europe's navigational landscape continues to evolve, with the top 5 navigation and maps applications demonstrating distinct user engagement patterns in the first quarter of 2024. Here's a snapshot of their performance, based on data from Sensor Tower.
Google Maps maintained a steady download rate, starting the quarter at roughly 632K and dipping to around 601K by the end of March. Weekly active users fluctuated slightly but showed an overall increase from 70.6M to 71.7M.
Waze Navigation & Live Traffic, another popular choice, saw downloads peak at 444K in late January before settling to 374K in the last week of March. The app's weekly active users witnessed a peak of 17.1M in late January, followed by a gentle slide to 16.5M.
Google Earth experienced a consistent download rate, hovering around 190K to 203K, with weekly active users showing a rising trend from 1.7M to 1.8M.
Citymapper: All Live Transit showed a varied download trend, starting with 68K and closing the quarter around 64K. Weekly active users saw a high of 1.4M in late January, which slightly decreased to 1.3M by the end of March. The app generated modest revenue, ranging from $7K to $9K weekly.
Blitzer.de had an impressive revenue growth, starting at $76K in the first week of January and climbing to $136K by the last week of March. Downloads for the app saw a significant spike to 99K in mid-February, with weekly active users increasing from 320K to 342K throughout the quarter.
