In the first quarter of 2024, the top 5 social networking applications on a unified platform in Europe exhibited diverse trends in weekly downloads, revenue, and active users. Below, we explore the performance of each app based on data from Sensor Tower.
Telegram Messenger saw a remarkable increase in weekly revenue, starting at approximately $1M in the first week of January and peaking at around $1.1M by mid-March. Weekly downloads fluctuated, reaching a high of 1.75M in early January and stabilizing around 1.6M towards the end of the quarter. Active users showed a consistent upward trend, growing from 152M to 155M over the quarter.
Azar - Video Chat experienced a steady weekly revenue, maintaining around $720K to $730K for most of the quarter, with a slight dip to $615K in mid-March. Weekly downloads ranged from 120K to 175K, with a notable drop in mid-March. Active users remained relatively stable, fluctuating between 1.05M and 1.17M throughout the quarter.
Grindr - Gay Dating & Chat demonstrated consistent weekly revenue, averaging around $800K, with a peak of $900K in late February. Weekly downloads were steady, hovering around 30K to 35K. Active users showed minor fluctuations, starting at 1.4M and ending the quarter at approximately the same number.
VK: social network, messenger displayed a modest weekly revenue trend, peaking at $326K in mid-February before declining slightly to $242K by the end of March. Weekly downloads were stable, averaging around 270K to 360K. Active users saw a slight decline from 85M to 84M over the quarter.
BIGO LIVE-Live Stream, Go Live had consistent weekly revenue, ranging from $440K to $540K, with minor fluctuations. Weekly downloads varied between 200K and 340K, with a peak in early January. Active users showed resilience, maintaining around 2.2M throughout the quarter.
