In the first quarter of 2024, France's social networking scene has seen interesting developments among the top applications in terms of downloads and weekly active users. Here's a snapshot of their performance, sourced from Sensor Tower's detailed analytics.
Threads, an Instagram app experienced a fluctuating trend in downloads, starting at 299K and dipping to 142K by the end of the quarter. Weekly active users showed a similar pattern, starting strong at 578K and ending the quarter with 566K.
Telegram Messenger maintained a steady income, starting at $26K and peaking at nearly $31K mid-quarter. Downloads peaked at 226K in early March, while weekly active users saw a significant leap from 4.5M to 5.7M in the same period, before settling down at 4.8M.
WhatsApp Messenger, while not generating revenue, saw its downloads peak at 204K in early February, with a slight dip to 128K by quarter's end. Weekly active users remained impressively stable, hovering around the 36.5M mark throughout the quarter.
Facebook showed consistency in revenue, with a starting figure of $29K and closing at $22K. Downloads saw a remarkable spike to 315K late in February, but active users experienced a slight decline from 28.7M to 28.3M over the quarter.
Lastly, Messenger demonstrated modest revenue figures, starting at just over $1K and ending at $896. Downloads surged to 235K in late February, and despite a slight decrease in weekly active users from 24.2M to 23.2M, the app maintains a strong user base.
