Social networking applications continue to be a hub of activity and engagement. As we dive into the performance of the top social networking apps in the United States for the first quarter of 2024, we see varying trends in downloads and weekly active users. The data, sourced from Sensor Tower, offers a glimpse into user preferences and app popularity.
Threads, an Instagram app saw its downloads fluctuating, with a peak of nearly 1.1M in early February, and a low of about 668K in early March. Weekly active users showed a more consistent upward trend, starting at approximately 4.3M and rising to over 5.1M by the end of the quarter.
WhatsApp Messenger experienced a gradual increase in downloads, starting the quarter at around 756K and reaching a high of nearly 1.2M in mid-March. Weekly active users remained stable with a slight uptick, beginning at 107.6M and ending the quarter at 110.5M.
Facebook demonstrated consistency in its revenue, with notable spikes reaching as high as 986K USD in the last week of February. Downloads saw a significant jump from 619K to over 1M in early March, while weekly active users hovered around 222M, with a slight decrease towards the end of the quarter.
Telegram Messenger showed an interesting revenue pattern, with a mid-quarter peak at 316K USD. Downloads remained relatively stable, ranging from 577K to 655K. Weekly active users experienced a gradual increase, starting at 9.6M and ending the quarter at nearly 9.7M.
Messenger, another app by Meta Platforms, Inc., showed modest revenue figures, peaking at around 15K USD in the first week of the year. Downloads peaked in late March at over 1.2M, while weekly active users saw a general increase from 115.4M to 113.1M throughout the quarter.
