In Q2 2024, the top 5 communication apps in South America on the Android platform, namely WhatsApp Messenger, Telegram, WhatsApp Business, Messenger, and Snapchat, exhibited notable trends in downloads, active users, and revenue.
WhatsApp Messenger maintained a consistent performance throughout the quarter. Weekly downloads peaked at approximately 1.9M in the week of June 10, showing a general upward trend. Active users saw a steady increase, rising from around 203.4M at the start of April to 205.1M by the end of June.
Telegram experienced a slight fluctuation in weekly downloads, with a peak of around 800K in mid-June. Revenue remained relatively stable, fluctuating around $23K to $28K weekly. Active users had minor variations, stabilizing around 20M by the end of the quarter.
WhatsApp Business also showed consistent performance. Weekly downloads fluctuated slightly, reaching a peak of about 687K in early June. Revenue showed a significant rise towards the end of the quarter, peaking at approximately $9.5K in the last week of June. Active users remained stable, with minor fluctuations around the 21.6M mark.
Messenger demonstrated a consistent number of weekly downloads, averaging around 580K. Revenue remained low, with minor fluctuations, peaking at around $262 in early May. Active users displayed a slight decline, from approximately 37.5M at the beginning of April to 36.3M by the end of June.
Snapchat showed an increase in weekly downloads, peaking at around 383K in mid-June. Revenue remained relatively stable, with slight increases, peaking at about $673 in late April. Active users showed minor fluctuations, stabilizing around 47.3M by the end of the quarter.
