In Q2 2024, Android's sandbox gaming category showed diverse user engagement trends, according to Sensor Tower data. Here's a glance at how the top sandbox games performed during this period.
Roblox maintained a strong presence, with revenues peaking at $18.5M in late April before descending to $12.3M by the end of June. Downloads had a slight downward trend from 1.2M in early April to 1M by late June, while weekly active users saw an overall increase from 207K to 225K.
While Minecraft Trial didn't generate revenue, the game's downloads started at 424K and dipped to 338K by the quarter's end. Weekly active users remained relatively stable, hovering around 5.9K in the beginning and ending at 5.6K.
Zamiton Dupila's Craft Box Game Tree experienced a surge in downloads mid-April at 498K but saw a sharp decline to 108K by early June. Active users grew from 211 to a peak of 917 before slightly dropping to 680 by the quarter's close.
Block Craft 3D: Building Game by Wildlife Studios had modest revenues, with an interesting spike to $28K in mid-June. Downloads fluctuated, beginning at 370K and ending at 156K. Active users saw a downward trend from 3.1K to 2K.
Lastly, Craft World - Building Craft showed no revenue but had downloads starting at 327K, decreasing to 209K by the quarter's end. Weekly active users started at 1.1K and experienced a slight dip to 889.
