In the second quarter of 2024, the top food delivery apps in South Africa on the iOS platform demonstrated diverse performance trends. Here's an overview of the weekly downloads and active users for the leading apps: Mr D - Groceries & Takeaway, Uber Eats: Food Delivery, Zulzi, OneCart: Shopping On Demand, and Bolt Food. Data sourced from Sensor Tower reveals these key insights:
Mr D - Groceries & Takeaway experienced a fluctuating trend in weekly downloads, starting at around 6.3K in early April and peaking at approximately 8.7K by the end of June. The app's weekly active users showed a similar pattern, beginning at 58.3K and rising to around 62.5K by the end of the quarter.
Uber Eats: Food Delivery showed consistent weekly download numbers, starting at 6.4K in early April and reaching around 7K by late June. The app maintained a high level of weekly active users throughout the quarter, fluctuating between 113K and 118K.
Zulzi saw significant spikes in its weekly downloads, peaking at 3.4K in mid-April, but then dropping to around 1K by late June. Unfortunately, data on weekly active users for Zulzi was not available for this period.
OneCart: Shopping On Demand had a relatively stable performance with weekly downloads ranging from 534 to 901 throughout Q2 2024. However, no data was available on its weekly active users.
Lastly, Bolt Food maintained a steady download rate, beginning at 800 and ending at 614 by the end of June. The app's weekly active users saw a decline from 16.7K in early April to around 14K in late June.
