In the second quarter of 2024, the top five free-to-play games on iOS in the United States showed varied performance metrics, from downloads to revenue and weekly active users. Below are the highlights for each game, with data provided by Sensor Tower.
Squad Busters Released by Supercell at the end of May 2024, this game quickly made an impact. In its inaugural week, it saw approximately 3.8M downloads and generated around $2.6M in revenue. However, both metrics declined steadily over the subsequent weeks. By the end of June, downloads fell to around 146K, and weekly revenue dropped to approximately $1M. Weekly active users also saw a decline from about 2.8M in its first week to approximately 891K by the end of the quarter.
Roblox Roblox Corporation's popular game maintained impressive performance throughout Q2 2024. Revenue peaked in mid-June at around $13M, while downloads increased steadily from about 341K in early April to approximately 430K by the end of June. Weekly active users also showed a positive trend, growing from around 14M at the beginning of April to roughly 15.3M by the end of June.
Brawl Stars Another hit from Supercell, Brawl Stars experienced fluctuations in various metrics. Revenue saw a high of approximately $4.8M at the end of April but settled to around $3.9M by the end of June. Downloads started strong at around 192K in early April, peaked at approximately 456K in early May, and then stabilized to about 258K by the end of June. Weekly active users remained relatively stable, ranging between 4.7M and 6.4M throughout the quarter.
Block Blast! Hungry Studio's game saw consistent download numbers, starting at around 227K in early April and reaching approximately 334K by the end of June. Weekly active users also showed a steady increase from about 1.1M to roughly 1.3M throughout the quarter. However, revenue data for this game was not available for the period.
MONOPOLY GO! Scopely, Inc.'s game demonstrated strong financial performance, with revenue peaking at around $25.9M in early April and fluctuating throughout the quarter to end at approximately $18.7M by late June. Downloads remained relatively stable, starting at around 282K and ending at approximately 287K. Weekly active users showed a slight decline from around 1.1M in early April to roughly 816K by the end of June.
