As we delve into the performance of word puzzle games in the second quarter of 2024, data from Sensor Tower offers us insight into how these brain-teasers fared on the unified platform.
Starting with Words of Wonders: Crossword, the title experienced a fluctuation in revenue, peaking at $5.5M in the second week of April and then gradually declining to $3M by the end of June. Downloads followed a similar trend, with a strong start at 29M in the first week of April, which tapered off to 19M towards the quarter's close. Weekly active users also saw a dip from 157M to 151M over the quarter.
Next, Crostic Crossword-Word Puzzles showed a significant spike in revenue in late April, reaching $700K, but this figure eventually settled to a modest $310K by the end of June. The game's downloads saw a remarkable jump to 39M in late April, possibly due to a marketing push or feature update, before leveling down to 9M. Despite this, weekly active users rose steadily, starting at 6M and peaking at 55M in late May.
Zen Word® - Relax Puzzle Game showed consistent revenue growth throughout the quarter, starting at $332K and reaching $970K in the third week of May, before a slight decline to $632K. Downloads, however, decreased from 34M at the beginning of April to 8M by the quarter's end. The weekly active users peaked at 61M in early April but eventually settled at 52M.
The game 4 Bilder 1 Wort saw a gradual revenue increase from $2M to $2.3M over the quarter. Downloads showed more volatility, with a mid-quarter dip to 11M but recovering to 15M in late May. Weekly active users experienced a similar pattern, dropping to 60M in early May but rebounding to 71M by the quarter's end.
Lastly, Cryptogram: Word Brain Puzzle had a stable revenue pattern, hovering around the $400K mark throughout the quarter, with a slight increase in June. Downloads started at 19M, saw a mid-quarter drop, but ended on a strong note at 12M. Active users remained relatively stable with a slight end-of-quarter uptick from 50M to 49M.
