In the third quarter of 2024, the Australian market for auto apps on the Android platform showcased some interesting trends. According to data from Sensor Tower, the following insights highlight the performance of the top five auto applications.
carsales: Buy & Sell Cars from carsales.com.au Pty Ltd maintained a consistent download rate throughout the quarter, starting at approximately 3.4K downloads in early July and tapering slightly to around 3K by the end of September. Weekly active users remained relatively stable, hovering around 82K at the beginning of the quarter and experiencing a mild decrease to about 80K towards the end.
BPme by BP Australia Pty Ltd saw a notable spike in downloads mid-September, reaching approximately 6.5K, up from the early quarter figures of around 2.5K. This surge in downloads was mirrored in the app's weekly active users, which peaked at nearly 12K in the same period, indicating a strong engagement with the app during this time.
Petrol Spy Australia, developed by Pinecone Software, experienced a steady download pattern, with numbers ranging from 2.8K to 3.5K. Weekly active users saw a consistent presence, maintaining an average of around 24K throughout the quarter.
Ampol observed a peak in downloads in early August with approximately 3.6K, followed by a gradual decrease to about 2.1K by the end of September. Unfortunately, data on weekly active users for Ampol was not provided.
CARS24™- Used Cars 100% Online from CARS24 Services Private Limited showed a varied download trend, starting at around 1.4K in early July and fluctuating throughout the quarter, ending with a slight increase to about 1.5K by the end of September. Weekly active user data was not available for this app.
