During the third quarter of 2024, the communication app landscape in Ghana saw notable performance trends on the Android platform. According to data from Sensor Tower, the top five communication apps exhibited varying patterns in weekly downloads, revenue, and active user engagement.
Discord - Talk, Play, Hang Out saw an impressive increase in weekly revenue, peaking at around $1.9K in late August. Downloads fluctuated, reaching a high of approximately 3.9K mid-July, while weekly active users hovered around 20K, showing a slight downward trend towards the end of September.
Telegram experienced a significant surge in downloads early in the quarter, with a peak of over 222K in mid-July. Revenue also rose steadily, culminating at nearly $900 by the end of September. Active user numbers remained robust, consistently around the 1.9M mark.
Snapchat maintained a stable revenue stream, with weekly figures ranging between $290 and $380. Downloads varied, with a notable peak of close to 80K at the end of July. Active users showed resilience, consistently exceeding 2.2M throughout the quarter.
Truecaller: AI Call Blocker experienced a modest revenue trend, maintaining figures around $160 to $220 weekly. Download numbers peaked in early September with over 26K, while active user counts remained steady, slightly increasing to over 2.2M by the end of the quarter.
Finally, Numero: Travel eSIM & Numbers saw a gradual decline in both downloads and active users. Revenue figures started at around $180 and tapered off to about $130 by late September. Downloads, initially at 1.3K, saw a decrease to just over 600 by the quarter's end, with active users also showing a decline.
