During the third quarter of 2024, the top communication apps on the Android platform in Israel showcased notable trends in downloads and active users. This analysis, based on data from Sensor Tower, delves into the performance of the top five apps: WhatsApp Messenger, Telegram, Messenger, Snapchat, and בזק Bezeq.
WhatsApp Messenger experienced a fluctuating pattern in weekly downloads, peaking at around 14K in early August and gradually declining to approximately 6.2K by the end of September. Despite the variations in downloads, the app maintained a robust base of weekly active users, starting the quarter with approximately 4.9M and closing with nearly 5M.
Telegram saw an upward trajectory in both revenue and active users over the quarter. Weekly revenue increased from about $7.4K to $12.3K. Downloads reached a high of 14.3K in late July, while active users consistently grew, ending the quarter at roughly 2M.
Messenger showed a slight decrease in weekly downloads, starting at around 11.7K and finishing at approximately 7K. The app maintained a steady number of active users, with a gradual decline from 1.14M to about 1.08M. Revenue remained negligible throughout the quarter.
Snapchat demonstrated a stable performance in terms of active users, hovering around 1M. Downloads fluctuated, beginning at 8.5K and ending the quarter slightly lower at 6.4K. Revenue peaked at $893 in late September, showcasing a modest increase over the period.
Finally, בזק Bezeq experienced a decline in downloads, from 6.5K at the start of the quarter to 2.8K by the end. The app did not report weekly active user data or revenue for this period.
