As Q3 2024 unfolded, the entertainment app scene in Latin America experienced notable shifts. According to Sensor Tower data, the top five Android apps—Disney+, Max: Stream HBO, TV, & Movies, Globoplay: Futebol Brasileiro!, Crunchyroll, and Amazon Prime Video—showcased varied trends in downloads, revenue, and user activity.
Disney+ recorded a steady increase in weekly revenue, reaching around $590K by the end of September. However, its weekly downloads saw a decline, falling from approximately 792K in early July to 441K by the quarter's end. Despite fluctuations in downloads, the app maintained a robust user base, with active users peaking at about 10.8M mid-quarter before settling at around 9.3M.
Max: Stream HBO, TV, & Movies demonstrated consistent revenue, closing the quarter with weekly earnings near $428K. Downloads showed a downward trend, from 1.1M in early July to approximately 547K by September's end. Active users, however, rose steadily, reaching about 17.2M.
Globoplay: Futebol Brasileiro! saw varied revenue trends, peaking at $410K mid-August before dropping to $276K by September's close. Downloads decreased from 263K to 150K, while active users fluctuated, ultimately reaching about 5.1M.
Crunchyroll maintained stable revenue, ending the quarter at approximately $260K weekly. Downloads decreased from 577K to 360K. Active users hovered around 3.4M throughout the quarter, with a slight uptick to 3.6M in late September.
Lastly, Amazon Prime Video experienced gradual revenue growth, finishing Q3 with around $173K per week. Downloads peaked at 550K in late July and then declined to 357K. Active users showed a decreasing trend, ending the quarter at about 5.9M.
