In the third quarter of 2024, the Food and Drink category on the Android platform in the United Kingdom saw notable activity among its leading applications. Data from Sensor Tower provides insights into the performance of the top five apps in this category: McDonald’s UK, Too Good To Go: End Food Waste, Just Eat - Food Delivery, Greggs App - Food & Drink, and Uber Eats: Food Delivery.
McDonald’s UK experienced a significant surge in weekly downloads, particularly noticeable towards the end of the quarter. Weekly downloads peaked at approximately 41K in late August, with a consistent level above 31K by the end of September. Active user numbers also showed an upward trend, rising from around 544K at the start of July to nearly 599K by the end of September.
Too Good To Go: End Food Waste demonstrated a steady increase in weekly downloads, which rose from around 15K in early July to nearly 30K by the end of September. The app also saw growth in active user engagement, reaching approximately 427K by the quarter's end.
Just Eat - Food Delivery maintained a steady pace in weekly downloads, ranging between 16K and 19K. Active user numbers fluctuated throughout the quarter but remained robust, closing at over 504K in late September.
Greggs App - Food & Drink experienced moderate growth in weekly downloads, which reached over 17K by the end of the quarter. The app consistently engaged a user base of about 108K active users throughout the period.
Uber Eats: Food Delivery saw a varied pattern in weekly downloads, peaking at around 17.6K in late September. The app's active user base remained strong, starting at approximately 1.15M in early July and increasing to about 1.22M by the end of September.
