In the third quarter of 2024, the maps and navigation category on the Android platform in Italy saw notable activity. According to data from Sensor Tower, the top five apps in this category demonstrated distinct trends in downloads and active users.

Trenitalia, published by Trenitalia S.p.A, experienced fluctuating download numbers, beginning the quarter with approximately 23.8K weekly downloads and seeing a slight dip to around 20K in mid-August. However, by September, downloads climbed to a peak of 25.8K. The app's active users also showcased an upward trajectory, starting at 338K and increasing steadily to reach over 381K by the end of September.

Waze Navigation & Live Traffic maintained consistent user engagement, with weekly active users peaking at 683K in early August before leveling off to 607K by the end of the quarter. Downloads followed a similar pattern, with an increase from 17.2K at the start of July to a peak of 31.4K in mid-August, eventually stabilizing around 16.9K by late September.
