In the third quarter of 2024, the Maps and Navigation category on Android in the United States showcased notable trends across the top apps, as reported by Sensor Tower. Here's a closer look at the performance of the leading applications in this space.
Uber - Request a ride saw a relatively stable pattern in weekly downloads, with figures ranging from 91K to 115K. Active user numbers remained strong, starting at roughly 4.5M in early July and reaching a peak of approximately 4.6M by mid-September, before settling around 4.6M at the end of the quarter.
Lyft experienced fluctuations in weekly downloads, peaking at about 102K in late July and tapering down to around 95K by the end of September. Weekly active users saw a slight increase, starting at 2.2M and reaching up to 2.4M towards the end of the quarter.
Waze Navigation & Live Traffic maintained a steady download rate, with numbers oscillating between 58K and 76K. Active users hovered around 1.3M throughout the quarter, indicating consistent usage among its audience.
Phone Tracker had a varied download trend, with a significant spike in early August reaching 117K, before stabilizing around the 50K mark. The app's active users grew notably from 65K in early July to over 329K by the end of September, illustrating a growing user base.
Finally, Live Earth Map & GPS Map experienced fluctuating download numbers, with a noticeable peak of about 79K in mid-August. Its active user base expanded from 67K to approximately 136K by the end of the quarter, showing a positive trend in user engagement.
