In the third quarter of 2024, the sandbox gaming category on Android in New Zealand was dominated by five standout apps, each exhibiting unique performance trends. According to data from Sensor Tower, these games showcased varied patterns in downloads, revenue, and user engagement.
Roblox from Roblox Corporation saw a peak in weekly revenue at approximately $38.5K in the final week of September. Throughout the quarter, weekly downloads fluctuated, starting at 4.4K and ending at 3.6K. The app maintained a robust user base, with weekly active users gradually declining from 277.9K to 242.9K.
Craft World - Building Craft experienced a decline in weekly downloads from 1.1K at the beginning of July to 557 by the end of September. Meanwhile, the number of weekly active users decreased slightly, starting at 3.2K and closing the quarter at 3.1K.
Melon Sandbox showed consistent growth in weekly active users, rising from 9.9K to 11.4K over the quarter. The game's weekly downloads were relatively stable, with minor fluctuations, ending the quarter at 777. Revenue peaked at $194 in mid-August before settling at $105 by September's end.
Block Craft 3D:Building Game by Wildlife Studios saw its weekly revenue reach $83 in early September, before closing the quarter at $57. Weekly downloads showed some recovery, with a rise from 381 in mid-September to 663 at the end. Active users fluctuated throughout the quarter, starting at 3.5K and ending at 2.8K.
Pixel Craft Legends witnessed an upward trend in weekly active users, beginning at 1.3K and rising to 2.2K by the end of September. Downloads were steady, with minor increases, closing the quarter at 657.
