In the third quarter of 2024, the top shopping apps on the Android platform in Central America showcased varied performance trends. According to data from Sensor Tower, these apps exhibited diverse patterns in terms of downloads, active users, and revenue.
Temu: Shop Like a Billionaire saw a significant trend in weekly downloads, starting at approximately 790K at the beginning of July and peaking at 871K by late August, before settling around 770K by the end of September. The app maintained a strong user base with weekly active users fluctuating between 6M and 6.7M throughout the quarter.
SHEIN-Shopping Online experienced a steady increase in downloads, beginning with 486K in early July and reaching 693K in early September, closing the quarter at about 585K. Its weekly active users also showed a positive trend, rising from 7.1M to 7.5M by the end of September.
For Mercado Libre: Compras online, weekly downloads began at 318K and saw a consistent rise, finishing the quarter at nearly 395K. The app's active users remained robust, ranging from 8.8M to 9.3M, indicating a stable user engagement throughout the period.
Spin Premia displayed a downward trend in downloads, starting at 180K in early July and decreasing to 112K by the end of September. However, its active user base showed resilience, growing from 594K to over 770K during the same timeframe.
Lastly, Amazon Shopping reported a notable peak in downloads at 271K in mid-July, before stabilizing around 138K by the end of the quarter. The app's weekly revenue fluctuated, peaking at approximately $56K mid-quarter. Active users remained steady, moving from 2.2M to roughly 2.7M.
