In the third quarter of 2024, the performance of the top five social apps on the Android platform in the United States showcased intriguing trends. The data, sourced from Sensor Tower, provides insights into weekly downloads, revenue, and active users for each app.
TikTok saw its weekly revenue fluctuate, starting at around $6.7M and peaking at approximately $8.5M by the end of September. Weekly downloads showed a varied pattern, beginning with over 540K and ending the quarter with a spike to roughly 676K. Weekly active users remained relatively stable, hovering around 42M but experiencing a slight decline towards the end of the quarter.
Instagram maintained consistent weekly revenue, with figures generally around the $200K mark, peaking at approximately $236K in the last week of September. Downloads began at over 370K, witnessed a peak of 520K in mid-September, and settled back to around 372K by quarter-end. The app's active users showed a gradual increase from 55.6M to about 56.4M over the quarter.
ABPV America’s best pics&vids did not generate revenue during this period. However, the app experienced significant growth in downloads, starting from 178K and reaching a peak of 784K by late August, before stabilizing at around 313K. Active users similarly surged from 503K to over 1M by the end of September.
Threads also reported no revenue. Downloads started at nearly 199K, climbing to a high of 705K in late September. Active users increased steadily from 5.4M to approximately 6.7M by the end of the quarter, indicating growing engagement.
Facebook recorded a stable weekly revenue around the $270K range, peaking at $290K in the last week. Downloads showed a slight decline from 188K to around 169K. Active users remained robust, with numbers consistently over 117M, peaking at 119M in late September.
