In the third quarter of 2024, the Travel and Local category on Android in South America saw varied performance across the top five apps, according to data from Sensor Tower. Here's a closer look at their weekly downloads and active users trends.
Airbnb maintained a robust presence with weekly downloads consistently hovering around 215K to 241K. The app saw a slight dip in active users early in the quarter, starting at 1.6M and dropping to 1.5M by late July. However, it rebounded to around 1.7M active users by mid-September, maintaining this level into October.
In Argentina, SUBE experienced a notable peak in downloads, reaching 125K in the week of September 9. Active users showed a steady climb from 285K at the beginning of July to a peak of 335K in early September, before declining to 269K by the end of the quarter.
Booking.com: Hotels & Travel saw its download numbers fluctuate throughout the quarter. Starting at 88K, downloads peaked at 98K mid-July before decreasing to 71K by late August. Active users mirrored this trend, starting at 2.7M, dipping to 2.4M mid-quarter, and then rising back to 2.7M by the end of September.
Google Earth maintained a consistent download rate, fluctuating between 57K and 75K. Active users remained stable around the 550K mark throughout the quarter, demonstrating steady engagement.
BlaBlaCar: Carpooling and Bus had a varied download pattern, peaking at 57K in mid-July and maintaining around 50K towards the quarter's end. Active users saw some fluctuations, starting at 1.7M, dipping to 1.4M in late July, and recovering to 1.6M by the end of September.
