In the third quarter of 2024, the word puzzle games category on the Android platform in Europe showcased dynamic trends across downloads, revenue, and active users. Here's a closer look at the top five performers according to Sensor Tower data.
Wordscapes by PeopleFun saw a fluctuating revenue trend, peaking at around $23K at the end of both July and September. Downloads experienced a decline, starting from 37K at the beginning of July and dropping to 28K by the end of September. Weekly active users also showed a downward trajectory from 336K to 307K over the quarter.
NYT Games: Word, Number, Logic from The New York Times Company had a notable increase in revenue towards the end of the quarter, with a significant peak at $21K in the week of September 23. Downloads remained relatively stable, fluctuating slightly around 11K to 14K. The weekly active users maintained a consistent range, ending the quarter at 87K.
Scrabble® GO-Classic Word Game by Scopely demonstrated a steady revenue performance, hovering around $12K to $13K throughout the quarter. Downloads showed a notable peak in mid-August at 23K before settling around 19K by the end of September. Weekly active users remained fairly consistent, with a slight decline from 253K to 235K.
Words of Wonders: Crossword by Fugo Games exhibited a relatively stable revenue pattern, ranging from $11K to $15K. Downloads started strong at 274K but gradually decreased to 177K by the end of September. The app maintained a high level of weekly active users, starting at over 5.6M but experiencing a decline to about 4M by the end of the quarter.
Finally, Words With Friends Word Game from Zynga had a varied revenue pattern, with notable peaks at $15K in early September. Downloads were modest, peaking at 5.6K in September, while weekly active users showed a slight decline from 38K to 34K over the quarter.
