In the third quarter of 2024, the consumer finance app landscape on iOS in Africa showcased notable trends in downloads and active users. According to data from Sensor Tower, Capitec Bank emerged as a prominent player, with weekly downloads fluctuating throughout the quarter. Starting at around 17.1K in early July, downloads peaked at 22K by the end of September. Concurrently, weekly active users increased steadily from 341.9K to 381.9K, reflecting growing user engagement.
Moniepoint Personal Banking maintained a consistent presence with downloads ranging from approximately 11.8K to 14.6K weekly. Active user numbers also saw a progressive rise, beginning at 69.9K and reaching 86.6K by the quarter's close.
The Moniepoint Business Banking app recorded stable download figures, with numbers hovering between 11.6K and 13.5K. Active users increased from 137.3K to 152.3K, indicating a steady user base expansion.
Kuda - Free transfer & payment experienced moderate download activity, with weekly figures mostly in the 10K range, peaking at 11.4K. Its active user count remained relatively stable, fluctuating slightly around 168K on average.
Lastly, Access More observed a varied download trend, starting at 9.7K in early July and ending at 7.9K. Despite these fluctuations, active users showed resilience, starting at 200.5K and dipping slightly to 193.5K by the end of September.
