The third quarter of 2024 saw interesting trends in the performance of the top investing and financial management apps on iOS in South Africa. According to Sensor Tower data, these apps displayed varied patterns in downloads and active user engagement.
MetaTrader 5 from MetaQuotes Software Corp. showed a consistent download trend, starting with approximately 3.7K downloads in early July and peaking at around 4.1K in mid-August. However, by the end of September, downloads had decreased to about 3K. The app maintained a steady active user base, beginning at 17.2K users and experiencing a slight increase to around 19K in mid-August, before settling at approximately 18.2K by the end of the quarter.
MetaTrader 4, also from MetaQuotes Software Corp., experienced a gradual decline in downloads from 2.1K in early July to approximately 1.5K by the end of September. Active users fluctuated slightly, starting at 6.7K, peaking at 7.4K in early August, and closing the quarter at around 6.9K.
EasyEquities by GT247.com saw a varied download pattern, beginning with 2.1K downloads in early July, dipping in the following weeks, and then climbing back up to 2.2K at the end of September. Unfortunately, active user data for this app was not available for the quarter.
Exness Trade: Online Trading from Exness Global Limited started with 1.2K downloads in early July and experienced a peak of around 1.9K in mid-September before ending the quarter with approximately 1.3K downloads. Active users increased from 2.6K in early July to 3.9K by late September, indicating a growing engagement over the quarter.
Finally, Sanlam Portfolio saw its downloads rise from 882 in early July to a peak of about 3.9K in early September, before dropping to 1.1K by the end of the quarter. Like EasyEquities, active user data was not available for this app.
