In the third quarter of 2024, the carpooling and ridesharing sector in Saudi Arabia showed varied performance across the top five apps, as reported by Sensor Tower. This analysis highlights the trends in downloads and active users, providing a snapshot of each app's market presence.
Uber - Request a ride saw a stable flow of weekly downloads, fluctuating between 30K to 36K, with a notable peak of around 36.2K in mid-September. The app's active user base remained robust, hovering around 1M throughout the quarter, with a slight uptick in early September reaching approximately 1.02M.
Jeeny - Book Affordable Rides experienced a consistent download pattern, starting at about 33K and settling around 30K by the end of September. Active users exhibited a gradual increase, peaking at over 157K in late August, demonstrating steady user engagement.
Bolt: Request a Ride maintained a steady download rate, generally ranging from 27K to 32K. Active users showcased a similar trend, reaching a high of approximately 163K in late August before stabilizing around 148K by the end of the quarter.
Careem – rides, food & more experienced a moderate increase in downloads, starting at 21K and ending the quarter slightly under 19K. Active users witnessed a significant rise, peaking at around 280K in early September, indicating growing user interest and engagement.
Saudi Ride Hailing: Kaiian displayed a noticeable spike in downloads in late July, reaching 56K, before stabilizing around 15K. Active users also surged in late July to over 73K, later settling at approximately 45K by the quarter's close.
