In the third quarter of 2024, the performance of the top finance applications in South Africa, as analyzed through Sensor Tower's unified platform data, reveals intriguing patterns in downloads and active user engagement.
Capitec Bank demonstrated a robust increase in weekly downloads, peaking at approximately 231K by the end of September. Active users also saw a consistent rise, beginning the quarter at 3.6M and climbing to over 4M by the end of September.
VodaPay experienced significant fluctuations in weekly downloads, with a notable peak of 171K in mid-August. Their active user base consistently grew, starting at 445K in early July and reaching 684K by the end of the quarter.
TymeBank saw a steady trend in downloads, with a notable increase to 78K in the last week of September. Active users followed a similar upward trajectory, beginning at just over 1M and culminating at 1.3M by the quarter's end.
SARS Mobile eFiling had a decline in weekly downloads during July, which stabilized around 24K by the end of September. Active users showed a dip initially but recovered to stabilize around 117K.
The FNB Banking App exhibited a consistent download pattern, with a peak of approximately 63K in the last week of September. The active user base saw a slight decline from 1.6M at the start of the quarter to 1.5M at the end.
