The third quarter of 2024 showcased diverse trends in the food delivery app market across Africa. Based on data from Sensor Tower, here's a breakdown of the performance of the top five food delivery services on a unified platform.
talabat: Food, grocery & more maintained a consistent level of weekly downloads throughout the quarter, peaking at approximately 53K in early September. The app's weekly active users fluctuated slightly, starting at about 1.08M in early July and ending the quarter with a similar figure.
Glovo: Food Delivery, Takeaway experienced a notable surge in weekly downloads in early August, reaching around 60K. The number of weekly active users also rose, starting the quarter at approximately 623K and climbing to nearly 697K by late September.
Breadfast: Groceries And More saw a significant increase in weekly downloads during late August, with numbers peaking at over 52K. Similarly, the app's weekly active users grew from around 34K in early July to about 67K in the first week of September.
Uber Eats: Food Delivery had a stable performance in terms of weekly downloads, with figures ranging from 25K to 35K. Weekly active users remained relatively stable, starting at approximately 484K and finishing the quarter slightly lower.
Chowdeck | Food Delivery experienced a dramatic spike in weekly downloads in early August, reaching an impressive 169K. The app's active user base also saw an increase, starting at around 88K in July and peaking at 271K in early August.
