During the third quarter of 2024, the leading food delivery applications in the United States showcased varied performance trends on a unified platform, according to data from Sensor Tower. Here's a closer look at how these apps fared in terms of downloads and active user engagement.
DoorDash - Food Delivery observed a consistent pattern in weekly downloads, beginning at approximately 374K at the start of July and peaking at 448K by the end of the month. The downloads fluctuated slightly through August and September, ending the quarter at around 398K. Meanwhile, weekly active users showed a slight upward trend, starting at 19.4M and reaching a high of approximately 20.3M by the end of September.
Uber Eats: Food Delivery experienced a stable download rate, starting at 250K in early July and reaching a peak of 273K by late July. The downloads gradually decreased towards the end of the quarter, settling at 220K. Active users fluctuated mildly, with a slight increase from 13.1M in early July to 13.1M by the end of September.
For DoorDash - Dasher, weekly downloads began at 188K and showed a dip mid-quarter, before rising again to 199K by the end of September. Active user numbers were relatively steady, starting at 2.4M and seeing minor fluctuations throughout the quarter, ending at 2.2M.
Instacart: Groceries & Food demonstrated a consistent download pattern, with numbers starting at around 156K, peaking at 190K in early September, and closing the quarter at 160K. Active users began at 2.1M in July, saw a slight increase mid-quarter, and ended at 1.9M.
Lastly, Too Good To Go: End Food Waste saw a significant rise in downloads from 92K in early July to 180K by the end of September. The active user base also increased, starting at 293K and growing steadily to 372K by the end of the quarter.
