In the third quarter of 2024, the horror game genre in Nigeria showed varied performance across the top five apps on a unified platform. Here’s a closer look at how these games fared in terms of downloads and active users, according to Sensor Tower data.
Granny experienced a gradual increase in weekly downloads, peaking at about 920 in the week of August 19. The game maintained a robust active user base, with numbers rising from approximately 1.7K at the start of July to a peak of 3.2K by the end of August.
Granny 3 saw consistent download numbers throughout the quarter, with a notable peak of 711 downloads in the week of August 26. Active users for this game also showed a steady increase, reaching around 1.8K by late August.
Scary Horror 2: Escape Games had a more fluctuating download trend, with a high of 378 downloads in the week of July 22. However, active user numbers showed a slight dip towards the end of the quarter, dropping from around 457 in July to 348 by September's end.
Hide in The Backrooms: Horror maintained relatively stable download figures, with a slight peak at 291 in late July. The game also had a strong active user base, consistently hovering around 3K throughout the quarter.
Finally, Eyes Horror & Coop Multiplayer had steady download numbers, with a peak of 288 in mid-September. Active users showed a similar pattern, peaking at 474 in the same period before slightly decreasing towards the end of the quarter.
