During the third quarter of 2024, the top music and audio applications in Russia on a unified platform showcased intriguing trends in downloads, revenue, and active users. Let's delve into the performance of each app as recorded by Sensor Tower.
Yandex Music, Books & Podcasts, published by Direct Cursus Computer Systems Trading LLC, experienced a fluctuating yet overall positive trajectory in key metrics. Weekly revenue peaked at around $41K mid-July and remained relatively stable towards the end of the quarter, closing at roughly $36K. Downloads saw an upward trend, reaching nearly 200K in early August before stabilizing around the mid-160K range by late September. The app also maintained a robust active user base, growing from approximately 19M to over 20M.
VK Music: playlists & podcasts from VK.com demonstrated a dynamic pattern in its weekly revenue, with a notable peak of about $118K in late July. Downloads consistently hovered around the 100K mark, with occasional spikes, while active users exhibited a gradual increase, culminating at approximately 4M by the end of September.
Shazam: Find Music & Concerts, developed by Apple Inc., did not generate revenue during this period. However, weekly downloads remained steady, fluctuating between 87K and 103K. Active users showed a slight decline from around 6.5M at the start of July to about 6.1M by the end of September.
Zvuk: HiFi music, podcasts, published by ZvukDev, also did not report revenue. Downloads peaked at nearly 120K in mid-July but tapered off to around 81K by the end of the quarter. Active users experienced a slight increase, ending the quarter just below the 650K mark.
Lastly, Music Player - MP3 Player by Apps10X, while not generating revenue, saw a significant rise in weekly downloads, peaking at around 67K in mid-August before gradually declining. The app's active user count showed a resurgence towards the end of the quarter, reaching approximately 2.9M.
