In the third quarter of 2024, the music and podcast app landscape in Sweden saw notable performances from various apps on the unified platform. According to Sensor Tower data, these are the highlights for the top five contenders in the category.
Podme: Premium Podcast player showed a significant increase in weekly revenue, peaking at around $49.5K by the end of September. The app's downloads followed an upward trajectory, reaching 7.4K in the last week of the quarter. Active users rose steadily from 23.1K to nearly 27K.
SoundCloud: Discover New Music experienced a revenue spike to $36.1K towards late September. Downloads remained relatively stable, fluctuating around 4K per week, while active users hovered close to 588K at the start of the quarter and slightly declined to 567K by the end.
Spotify - Music and Podcasts maintained a consistent performance, with revenue peaking at $29.3K in late September. Weekly downloads increased gradually, reaching over 10.4K. The app's active user base started at 2.3M and saw a modest increase to 2.35M.
YouTube Music had a varied quarter with revenue climbing to $22.4K by late September. Downloads were stable, averaging around 2.3K weekly. The active user count increased from 457K to 497K, showing a positive trend.
Finally, TIDAL Music: HiFi Sound witnessed a revenue increase, reaching $10.4K by the end of September. Downloads were modest, peaking at 451 weekly. Active users remained relatively stable, with minor fluctuations around 14.9K.
