In the third quarter of 2024, the top music and podcasts applications in the Middle East experienced varying trends in downloads, revenue, and active users across a unified platform. Based on data from Sensor Tower, here is a detailed look at the performance of these apps.
Spotify - Music and Podcasts showed a stable weekly revenue trend, starting at approximately $39K and peaking at around $47K by the end of September. Weekly downloads exhibited a gradual decrease from roughly 75K in early July to 61K by the end of the quarter. The app's active users fluctuated, peaking at about 2M in July and declining to 1.9M at the end of September.
YouTube Music saw its weekly revenue start at $140K, with a notable increase towards the end of the quarter, reaching nearly $170K. Downloads experienced a downward trend, starting at 41K and ending at 32K. The app maintained a robust active user base, peaking at 4.4M in mid-September before a slight decline to 4.1M.
SoundCloud: Discover New Music had a modest revenue growth, beginning at $9.3K and increasing to $13.5K by the end of September. Downloads decreased from 39K to 31K over the quarter. Active users showed a slight fluctuation, peaking at 2.8M in early July and settling at 2.6M by the end of the quarter.
Anghami: Play Music & Podcasts experienced a steady rise in revenue, starting at $77K and reaching $96K in late September. Downloads decreased steadily from 24K to 16K over the quarter. The app's active users fluctuated, with a high of 511K in late July, ending the quarter at approximately 383K.
Shazam: Find Music & Concerts maintained a relatively flat revenue trend, starting at $65 and ending at $108. Downloads slightly decreased from 22K to 19K over the three months. Active users peaked at just over 1M in late July, with a gradual decline to 931K by the end of September.
