In the third quarter of 2024, the top five photo and video applications in South America showed notable trends in downloads, revenue, and active user engagement. This analysis, based on data from Sensor Tower, provides insights into their performance.
YouTube: Watch, Listen, Stream maintained strong weekly revenue, peaking at around $1.4M in early July and ending September with $1.3M. Weekly downloads fluctuated, starting at 312K and observing a peak of 358K in early August. The app consistently engaged over 210M active users weekly, with a slight increase to 211M by the end of the quarter.
Canva: AI Photo & Video Editor saw its revenue vary, reaching a high of $598K mid-August. Downloads increased steadily from 496K in early July to 619K by the end of September. Active users grew from 11.4M to 13.5M over the quarter, reflecting rising engagement.
CapCut - Video Editor experienced a revenue surge, peaking at $631K in late July. Downloads were robust, hitting a high of 1.67M in early September, although they slightly dipped to 1.31M by the end of the quarter. Active users remained stable around 10.5M.
Google Photos: Backup & Edit had consistent weekly revenue, ranging from $185K to $215K throughout the quarter. Weekly downloads saw a minor decline from 257K to 233K. Active users increased slightly, from 69.8M to 71M, indicating steady usage.
Instagram showed a varied revenue trend, with figures ranging from $242K to $329K. Downloads peaked at 2.42M in early August but decreased to 1.73M by the end of September. Despite this, active users remained high, averaging around 139M weekly.
