In the third quarter of 2024, the shopping app landscape in South America saw varied performance across the top five applications, as reported by Sensor Tower.
Temu: Shop Like a Billionaire showcased a robust performance in weekly downloads, starting around 3.3M in early July and peaking at approximately 4.3M in mid-September. The app's weekly active users consistently rose, beginning at 9.7M and reaching over 22M by the end of September.
SHEIN - Shopping Online experienced a steady download rate throughout the quarter, with numbers fluctuating between 1.2M and 1.5M. Despite some fluctuations, its weekly active users remained relatively stable, with a slight uptick towards the end of the quarter, closing at about 24.3M.
Mercado Libre: Compras Online maintained a consistent download trend, starting at around 895K and peaking at over 1M in early August. The app's weekly active users saw minimal changes, hovering around 33M to 34M throughout the quarter.
Shopee Brasil - Frete Zero observed a gradual decline in downloads, beginning at 923K and ending at 570K by the end of September. However, its active user base remained strong, with slight fluctuations, ultimately reaching about 36M in the final week of the quarter.
The Amazon Shopping app saw a significant spike in downloads in mid-July, with over 1.2M downloads, although this number tapered off in subsequent weeks. The app's weekly revenue showed a steady climb, peaking at approximately $78K in mid-September. Meanwhile, active user numbers demonstrated resilience, beginning at 8.3M and culminating in 8.4M by the quarter's end.
