In the third quarter of 2024, Europe's top social networking apps demonstrated diverse performance trends across downloads and active user metrics, as revealed by Sensor Tower data.
Threads from Instagram, Inc. saw a consistent increase in downloads, beginning with 1.2M in early July and reaching over 1.7M by the end of September. The app's weekly active users also showed a positive trajectory, climbing from 14.2M at the start of the quarter to approximately 17M by the end.
WhatsApp Messenger maintained a steady presence with downloads fluctuating slightly, peaking at 1.8M in mid-August. The weekly active users remained robust, increasing from 446.7M to 452.3M over the quarter, while revenue hovered around $150 weekly.
Telegram Messenger from Telegram FZ-LLC experienced a volatile revenue pattern, starting the quarter at $973K and peaking at $1.4M in late September. Downloads showed a similar fluctuation, with a notable increase to 1.6M in mid-August, while weekly active users remained stable, ending the quarter at 155.3M.
Facebook from Meta Platforms, Inc. demonstrated a stable download rate, starting at 1M and slightly decreasing to 950K by the end of September. Revenue showed a moderate increase, with a peak of $372K in the last week of September. Weekly active users saw a slight decline, finishing the quarter at 260.7M.
Google Meet presented an interesting trend with downloads rising significantly from 212K in early July to 293K by the end of September. Weekly active users showed a similar pattern, peaking at 5M at the start of September.
