In the third quarter of 2024, the social networking app landscape in Turkey saw varied performance across the top five applications, as reported by Sensor Tower.
WhatsApp Messenger maintained a strong presence in Turkey with weekly downloads fluctuating between 198K and 339K. The app's weekly active users grew steadily from 52.2M to 53.8M over the quarter, demonstrating its entrenched position among users, despite generating no revenue.
Telegram Messenger experienced a notable increase in revenue, starting at approximately $46K and peaking at around $95K by the end of the quarter. Downloads showed a significant spike to 324K in late September, while weekly active users increased from 9.3M to 9.6M, indicating growing engagement.
Facebook saw moderate revenue growth, ending the quarter with $16K. Downloads ranged from 132K to 193K, with active users declining from 33M to 30M, reflecting a slight decrease in user engagement.
OmeTV – Video Chat Alternative generated consistent weekly revenue, peaking at $16K. Downloads saw fluctuations, with a high of 69K in late July. However, active users decreased from 224K to 186K, suggesting a drop in user interaction.
Discord - Talk, Play, Hang Out experienced stable revenue, closing September with $34K. Downloads were highest at 74K in early August, while active users declined from 3M to 2.8M, indicating a need to enhance user retention strategies.
