In Q3 2024, the virtual pet app category in Madagascar showcased some interesting trends on a unified platform, combining data from both iOS and Android. According to Sensor Tower, the top five apps in this category experienced varied performance in terms of weekly downloads and active users.
My Talking Tom Friends from Outfit7 Limited saw consistent weekly downloads, with figures peaking at around 1.2K in early August before tapering off towards the end of the quarter, ending with approximately 621 downloads in the last week of September. The app maintained a steady number of weekly active users, starting at about 10K at the beginning of July and slightly dipping to approximately 10.2K by the end of September.
My Talking Angela 2 also by Outfit7 Limited, experienced a gradual decline in weekly downloads over the quarter, starting at 863 and finishing with 371 by the end of September. Its active user base followed a similar downward trend, beginning with 5.5K and closing the quarter with about 4.8K users.
Similarly, My Talking Tom 2 recorded a decrease in downloads, from 597 in early July to 317 by the end of September. However, its active user count remained relatively stable, beginning at around 6.5K and ending at approximately 6.2K users.
My Talking Angela showed a steady decline in downloads, dropping from 611 in the first week of July to 280 by the close of the quarter. The app's active users also decreased from about 6.4K to 5.9K over the same period.
Finally, My Talking Hank: Islands saw a significant drop in weekly downloads, starting at 392 and ending with 193. The active user numbers followed a consistent downward trajectory, from 859 in early July to 1.1K by the end of September, reflecting a slight increase in engagement relative to downloads.
