In the fourth quarter of 2024, the carpooling and ridesharing app market on Android in the United States showcased varied performance trends across the top five applications. Here's a detailed look based on Sensor Tower data.
Uber - Request a ride maintained a strong presence with weekly downloads fluctuating between 100K and 119K. The app’s weekly active users saw some volatility, peaking at around 6.6M in mid-October, before declining to approximately 6.1M by the end of December.
Lyft experienced a peak in weekly downloads at 121K during late October, with numbers generally ranging from 85K to 121K throughout the quarter. Active users showed a downward trend from about 4M in early October to 3.5M by the end of December.
Uber - Driver: Drive & Deliver had a steady download rate, reaching around 54K to 61K weekly. The app's active user base increased significantly, starting at approximately 1.2M and climbing to nearly 1.4M by mid-December.
Lyft Driver saw weekly downloads ranging from 14K to 21K. Its active user count varied, beginning at around 321K and ending the quarter with about 385K.
inDrive. Rides with fair fares had consistent download numbers, typically between 13K and 17K. Active users grew from approximately 74K to 80K over the quarter, with a peak at 91K in mid-December.
