Top 5 Android Navigation and Maps Apps in the US: Q4 2024 Performance Review

During the fourth quarter of 2024, the top navigation and maps applications on the Android platform in the United States displayed varied performance trends across downloads and active user metrics, as reported by Sensor Tower.

Waze Navigation & Live Traffic saw a gradual decrease in weekly downloads, starting at 72.4K at the beginning of October and dropping to 58.1K by the end of December. Its weekly active users mirrored this trend, starting the quarter with approximately 1.26M users, dipping to about 1.15M towards the end of December.

Google Earth experienced a decline in downloads early in the quarter, from 57.5K in early October to a low of 41.6K in early November. However, downloads spiked to 63.3K in mid-December. The weekly active users remained relatively stable, hovering around 370K to 380K throughout the quarter.

Camera Location: Geotag Photos showed significant fluctuation in downloads. After a peak of 80K downloads in mid-October, the numbers dropped to 16.8K in mid-December before climbing back to 23.8K by the end of the year. Active users followed a similar pattern, peaking at 126K in late October and stabilizing around 104K by the end of December.

Live Earth Map & GPS Map had a notable rise in weekly revenue, reaching $1.7K by late December. Downloads fluctuated throughout the quarter, starting at 57.9K in early October, dipping to 7K mid-month, and then stabilizing around 24K towards the year's end. Active users increased from 242K in early October to approximately 223K by December's close.

Finally, Google Maps Go maintained a consistent download rate, averaging around 21K per week, with a slight dip to 18.8K in early December. Active users showed a steady presence, with weekly figures ranging between 55K and 57K.
