In the fourth quarter of 2024, the top communication apps in the United States showcased varied performance trends, as revealed by Sensor Tower data.
WhatsApp Messenger saw weekly downloads fluctuating around 600K to 700K, peaking at approximately 783K in late December. The app maintained a robust user base with weekly active users hovering around 115M to 119M.
Messenger from Meta Platforms experienced a consistent revenue stream, peaking at around $12K at the end of December. Downloads remained steady between 390K and 470K weekly, with active users rising from 142M to about 145M by the quarter's end.
Snapchat generated substantial weekly revenue, reaching up to $4.6M in the week leading up to Christmas. Downloads peaked at 632K during the same period, while active users remained stable, averaging around 83M.
Telegram showed a strong revenue increase, peaking at approximately $1.1M in late November. Weekly downloads were stable around 500K, and active users ranged between 39M and 41M.
TextNow: Call + Text Unlimited saw weekly revenue gradually rise to about $396K by the end of December. Downloads fluctuated between 280K and 330K, while active users showed an upward trend, reaching nearly 11.5M.
