In the first quarter of 2025, the sandbox gaming category on Android saw varied performance across the top five apps in the United States. This analysis, based on data from Sensor Tower, provides insights into their weekly downloads, revenue, and active user trends.
Roblox from Roblox Corporation led the charge with substantial weekly revenue, peaking at around $2.9M at the start of January. Although there was a gradual decline, it stabilized near $1.9M by the end of March. Weekly downloads fluctuated, reaching a high of approximately 199K in late January, while active users remained robust, starting at over 20M and ending the quarter at 17.4M.
Melon Sandbox by playducky.com showed a positive trend in revenue, starting at $12K and climbing to nearly $30K by mid-March before a slight dip. Weekly downloads peaked at 70.7K in early March, reflecting a growing interest. Active users also increased, reaching a high of 900K in mid-March.
SprunkiCraft from Craftopia Games, despite having no revenue data, saw a strong start with downloads peaking at 109K in late January. However, this number declined to 7.7K by the end of March. Active users followed a similar trend, starting at 41K and decreasing to 70K.
Block Craft 3D:Building Game by Wildlife Studios maintained a modest revenue stream, ending the quarter at $1.9K. Downloads varied, with an initial high of 44.9K in mid-January and a resurgence to 34K by the end of March. Active users remained relatively stable, peaking at 305K in January.
Finally, Craft Block World Building by SuroboyoStar, a newcomer launched in late February, quickly gained traction. Downloads surged to 138.9K by mid-March, and active users soared to 209K, indicating a strong debut.
