In the first quarter of 2025, the performance of the top social networking apps on iOS in the Netherlands showcased interesting patterns in downloads and active users. Here’s a closer look at the trends for each app based on Sensor Tower data.
Signal - Private Messenger saw a significant increase in weekly downloads, peaking at around 65.2K by the end of February. Its weekly active users also rose impressively, starting from 435.4K and reaching over 1.2M by March.
Threads experienced a moderate fluctuation in downloads, starting at 23K and gradually declining to 15.2K by the end of March. The app maintained a stable base of active users, hovering around 864.6K by the end of the quarter.
小红书 – 你的生活兴趣社区 showed a dramatic spike in downloads mid-January, reaching 116K, before stabilizing at lower levels. Active users initially surged to 68.8K but then gradually decreased, ending the quarter with 12.7K.
Telegram Messenger maintained consistent download numbers, averaging around 7K per week. Its weekly revenue saw a steady rise, peaking at approximately $20.3K in early March. The active user base remained robust, fluctuating slightly around 811.4K.
WhatsApp Messenger sustained a steady download rate, with a slight dip towards the end of the quarter. Its active user count was remarkably stable, consistently exceeding 5.7M throughout the quarter.
