In the first quarter of 2025, the top navigation and maps applications in Costa Rica showed varied performance in terms of downloads and active users, as revealed by Sensor Tower data.
Waze Navigation & Live Traffic maintained a robust presence with weekly downloads peaking at 15.3K in mid-January. Despite a slight decline towards the end of the quarter, it sustained a strong user base, with weekly active users hovering around 230K to 240K.
Google Maps Go experienced a consistent download rate, reaching up to 5.2K in mid-January. Active users remained steady, averaging around 178K throughout the quarter.
Google Earth saw a gradual increase in downloads, peaking at 2.6K in mid-February. Weekly active users showed a slight increase, ranging from 14K to 16K.
Offline Maps, GPS, Speedometer had a varied download pattern, with a notable increase in the last week of March to 1.9K. Active user numbers also rose towards the end of the quarter, reaching over 5K.
Compass app - Accurate Compass showed consistent weekly downloads, with a significant spike to 1K in the final week of March. Active users also peaked at 1.2K at the end of the quarter. The app generated modest weekly revenue, with a peak of $55 in mid-January.
