In the second quarter of 2025, several personal finance and budgeting apps stood out on the Android platform in New Zealand. According to Sensor Tower data, these apps showed varied trends in downloads and revenue, offering insights into user preferences and market dynamics.
Booster NZ from Booster Financial Services saw fluctuating download numbers, with a notable peak of approximately 917 downloads in mid-May. Despite these download figures, the app did not generate any revenue during this period.
Splitwise experienced a consistent revenue flow, reaching a high of around $294 in mid-April. Its download numbers peaked at 371 in the third week of April, while active users showed a gradual decline from about 9K to 6.3K by the end of June.
Westpac NZ CashNav maintained a steady download rate, peaking at 104 downloads in late June. The app's active users increased to a high of 2K in mid-May before stabilizing around 1.5K by the quarter's end.
Budgeting App - Spend Tracker showed a slight increase in revenue, peaking at $113 in late June. Its download numbers remained relatively stable, with minor fluctuations throughout the quarter.
Finally, PocketSmith Sidekick saw a gradual increase in downloads, reaching 83 in the third week of June, although it did not generate any revenue.
