In the second quarter of 2025, the food delivery app market in the United Arab Emirates showed interesting trends across the top five applications on a unified platform. This analysis, based on data from Sensor Tower, provides insights into weekly downloads and active user numbers.
talabat: Food, grocery & more experienced a steady stream of downloads, with numbers hovering around the mid-30,000s. The highest downloads reached approximately 38.6K at the start of April. Active users fluctuated, peaking at about 1.9M in late June, reflecting a dynamic engagement pattern throughout the quarter.
Smiles: Food Grocery Lifestyle saw notable increases in weekly downloads, especially mid-quarter, with a peak of around 30.7K in late April. The app maintained a robust base of active users, reaching over 500K towards the end of May.
Deliveroo: Food & Shopping had a consistent download rate, averaging around 7K to 10K throughout the quarter. Weekly active users remained relatively stable, peaking at nearly 288K in late April, before gradually decreasing to about 220K by the end of June.
instashop: Groceries & more maintained a steady download rate, with numbers hovering between 4K and 5K. Active users showed a slight decline over the quarter, starting from approximately 173K and ending at 143K.
Kitopi exhibited lower download numbers compared to others, with weekly figures ranging from 2K to 5K. Despite this, the app's download numbers showed a positive trend towards the end of the quarter.
