US Fitness & Weight Loss Apps Q2 2023: Performance Insights

The second quarter of 2023 has seen significant activity in the US Fitness & Weight Loss app category. Data provided by Sensor Tower offers a glimpse into the performance of the top applications in this space.

Planet Fitness Workouts experienced a notable increase in downloads, starting at around 180k in the last week of March and peaking at over 300k by mid-May. Weekly active users mirrored this trend, initially at around 3.4 million and rising to over 4.3 million by the end of May. However, revenue for the app showed a decreasing trend, starting at around $10k in late March and dropping to approximately $3.8k by the end of June.

Yuka - Food & Cosmetic scanner saw its revenue climb from around $51k to nearly $69k by mid-June before slightly dipping to around $65k. Downloads peaked at 193k in late May, while weekly active users reached their highest at over 515k in the last week of June.

MyFitnessPal: Calorie Counter maintained a strong revenue throughout the quarter, starting at almost $2 million and reaching over $2.1 million in late April. Despite a slight downturn in June, it recovered to around $1.9 million. Weekly active users showed more consistency, staying around 3.7 million, with downloads hovering just over 100k towards the end of the quarter.

JustFit: Lazy Workout & Fit saw a decline in revenue from around $435k to $260k in mid-May, but it rebounded to nearly $305k in mid-June. Downloads decreased from 158k to around 75k in mid-May, then rose again to approximately 129k by the end of June. The app's weekly active users fluctuated, peaking at over 650k in late May.

Lastly, BetterMe: Health Coaching experienced an increase in revenue from around $225k to over $321k by the start of May, followed by a decrease to around $248k, and then an uptick to approximately $308k in mid-June. Downloads for the app peaked at nearly 140k in early April, while weekly active users saw their highest numbers at nearly 491k in early May.
